The students can listen podcasts products whenever and wherever they want if they want many times. It can generate a lot of interest among students.
Authentic podcasts that are not aimed at ELT students can often be a rich source of listening. They can be suitable for use with upper intermediate students.
The podcasts produced by teachers, often for their own classes usually aim at helping students learn by producing listening content that is not available elsewhere.
With the ones produced by students, often with teacher help, the students can exchange their ideas with other students from around the world. English conversations, for example is a podcast largely made by students for students.
